Essex Pride is an annual celebration of LGBT+ life in Essex and beyond. Establishing itself since it began in 2003 as a cornerstone event showcasing Essex’s successful approach to diversity and inclusion, and even becoming a factor in Chelmsford being granted City Status in 2012 by her Majesty The Queen.

This is an event for the whole community, and it’s more than just a huge party. Pride inspires everyone to embrace equality and demonstrates that people from all walks of life can join together and celebrate diversity.

Essex Pride is a not for profit registered charity, run on behalf of the LGBT+ community of Essex by a volunteer board of Trustees. All proceeds from ticketing and fundraising go towards the operational and running costs of Essex Pride.

A message from the Chair

Having been involved in Essex Pride since it began in 2003, I have seen the positive effect this event has had on people’s lives.

For the many thousands that have been to Essex Pride, not only has it been a time for fun and a chance to enjoy the moment with friends, but I have also seen younger people who are discovering their identity and have met other like-minded people at Essex Pride and no longer feel alone. I have seen parents and siblings coming along to support their LGBT family members.

I have also seen how the perception of LGBTQ+ people has been changed, by those that come to this event. It really is important. By showing your support and attending Essex Pride, you are helping to achieve a much more accepting community and showing that Essex is a diverse and accepting place to live.
