2022 is the 50th anniversary of the first Pride march in the UK and to recognise, celebrate and remember the steps that have been made, Essex Pride will be holding our first march.
On June the 25th 2022 we will be marching through the streets of Chelmsford as a community, stronger together and still moving forward in our fight for equality.
“With this year marking the 50th anniversary of the first UK pride march, it’s feels so important to recognise the pivotal part that pride marches have played in driving change in society and law.
As part of Essex Pride 2022, our march recognises all those before us, who have taken to the streets to make a stand against inequality.
Our aim is to highlight an incredibly positive message about acceptance, and celebrating our differences.” – Garry Ormes, Chair of Essex Pride
The March Route.
The march is an accessible route and will start in the city centre, taking in the high street and the edge of the river, before moving through the city parks ending in Central Park next to the Pride LGBT+ Festival event.
The march is aiming to be the most inclusive and visible demonstration of the LGBT+ community in Essex to date.
Joining us for the march.
As a charity and volunteer run organisation, we are asking people who would like to march to sign up in advance so we can plan for numbers, and to make the event run as smoothly as possible on the day. It also means we can share with you any changes, tips and surprises we have planned in advance. You can sign up by clicking the button below, as a group, individual or organisation.
Participation in the march is free; however, if you wish to subsequently attend the Essex Pride festival you will need to purchase a ticket. We recommend purchasing in advance from the Essex Pride website. You will then be able to pick up your ticket from us when you arrive for the march.
If you have any questions, please emails firstname.lastname@example.org
Volunteering to support the march.
