Essex Pride Information on The Coronavirus
It is with utter sadness that the Essex Pride Committee has taken the decision to cancel this year’s annual pride event, that was due to take place on Saturday 20th June.
This decision has not been taken lightly and our volunteer committee has been working steadily throughout the last 11 months to bring you the biggest and best event yet. Even when the global pandemic hit, we were tirelessly contingency planning, looking to re-shape Essex Pride or look at pushing it back to later in the year.
It is clear that the current pandemic situation means uncertainty for large scale events, and we feel that it would not be appropriate to continue planning an event for this year. We understand that everyone will be just as sad hearing this news, as we are delivering it. We are acutely aware that lockdown and social distancing measures placed on the whole population can affect our LGBTQ+ family deeply, but hold in there everyone – we will meet again.
We are currently working with our ticketing partners to refund all tickets to those that have already purchased them. Please bear with us while we arrange to get that money back to you in due course.
Whilst we work with our sponsors, partners, stallholders and artists to finalise postponement, we are now making new arrangements to bring you the biggest and best Essex Pride possible, and as soon as the situation allows, we will return.
Keep safe to you all
Yours in Pride
